Maira Kalman, the author of the bestsellers The Principles of Uncertainty and The Elements of Style, and Alex Kalman, the designer, curator, writer, and founder of Mmuseumm, combine their talents in this captivating family memoir, a creative blend of narrative and striking visuals that is a paean to an exceptional woman and a celebration of individuality, personal expression, and the art of living authentically. In the early 1950s, Jewish émigré Sara Berman arrived in the Bronx with her husband and two young daughters When the children were grown, she and her husband returned to Israel, but Sara did not stay for long. In the late 1960s, at age sixty, she left her husband after thirty-eight years of marriage. One night, she packed a single suitcase and returned alone to New York City, moving intoa studio apartment in Greenwich Village near her family. In her new home, Sara began discovering new things and establishing new rituals, from watching Jeopardy each night at 7:00 to eating pizza at the Museum of Modern Art’s cafeteria every Wednesday. She also began discarding the unnecessary, according to the Kalmans: "in a burst of personal expression, she decided to wear only white." Sara kept her belongings in an extraordinarily clean and organized closet. Filled with elegant, minimalist, heavily starched, impeccably pressed and folded all-white clothing, including socks and undergarments, as well as carefully selected objects—from a potato grater to her signature perfume, Chanel No.19—the space was sublime. Upon her death in 2004, her family decided to preserve its pristine contents, hoping to find a way to exhibit them one day. In 2015, the Mmuseumm, a new type of museum located in a series of unexpected locations founded and curated by Sara’s grandson, Alex Kalman, recreated the space in a popular exhibit—Sara Berman's Closet—in Tribeca. The installation eventually moved to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and in spring 2019, will become an outdoor monument to independence at the National Museum of American Jewish History on Independence Mall in Philadelphia. Inspired by the exhibit, this spectacular illustrated memoir, packed with family photographs, exclusive images, and Maira Kalman's distinctive paintings, is an ode to Sara’s life, freedom, and re-invention. Sara Berman’s Closet is an indelible portrait of the human experience—overcoming hardship, taking risks, experiencing joy, enduring loss. It is also a reminder of the significance of the seemingly insignificant moments in our lives—the moments we take for granted that may turn out to be the sweetest. Filled with a daughter and grandson’s wry and touching observations conveyed in Maira’s signature script, Sara Berman’s Closest is a beautiful, loving tribute to one woman’s indomitable spirit.

Bernie Sanders, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Fidel Castro & Other Socialists

Bernie Sanders (BS) self-identifies the same way that Adolf Hitler self-identified: SOCIALIST. In voluminous speeches and writings Hitler glorified the identical word touted by BS as his political philosophy. Hitler’s swastika was “S” letter shaped symbolism for his socialism. BS proudly classifies himself in the same fashion as Hitler and the world’s other genocidal psychopaths. Bernie Sanders was endorsed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) in the 2020 presidential election and AOC actively campaigns for BS. Why does AOC support such an old white male? She promotes him because they share the same extremist dogma. How did they both become socialists? AOC was heavily influenced by BS. The USA’s two worst national socialists were both born and raised in New York City. AOC grew up during BS’s years as a career politician. She learned a lot about socialism and wanted to get on the dole too. BS is the oldest white male who is running for nomination. BS is so elderly that he could be AOC’s grandfather (he is 48 years older than her). AOC was born a year after BS’s infamous honeymoon (1988) in the USSR just as Soviet socialism self-destructed. Sanders was born in 1941 shortly after Soviet socialism’s partnership with German socialism. Soviet socialism (under Stalin) and German socialism (under Hitler) had joined to launch WWII, destroying Poland together, and going onward from there in a pact to enslave Europe. After German socialism was defeated, Soviet socialism continued (as Sanders grew up) to ruin millions of lives and increase its record-setting mass-murders. As a child, Sanders had learned about socialism from his parents and other relatives. They attended government schools (socialist schools) in the USA where students were forced to perform the Nazi salute and chant robotically to the flag each morning at the ring of a bell. The Pledge of Allegiance to the USA’s Flag was the origin of the infamous stiff-armed salute (and other propagandistic behavior) that was borrowed decades later under German socialism and under other socialists worldwide. The pledge was written by an American socialist (Francis Bellamy) in order to spread socialism. Anyone who refused the ritual in the socialist schools was persecuted. At that time the socialist schools taught racism as official policy and imposed segregation by law. Sanders also learned socialism from government schools that he attended, and he chanted in unison each morning to the flag too (although the gesture had changed to hide socialism’s putrid history). During Sanders’ youth the socialist schools continued to teach racism as official policy and continued to impose segregation by law. “America’s Nazi salute” was often performed by public officials in the USA from 1892 through 1942. What happened to old photographs and films of the American Nazi salute performed by federal, state, county, and local officials? Those photos and films are rare because people don't want to know the truth about the government’s past. American youth groups (Scouting) adopted Bellamy's American Nazi salute (with Bellamy’s encouragement) AND saluted swastika badges (卐) worn by fellow scouts. Many Americans were accustomed to “Nazi salutes for swastikas” long before German socialism (and Hitler Youth) adopted similar behavior under Hitler. That helps to explain another shocking revelation: swastikas were promoted in the US military and worn as a patch on the upper left arm of American soldiers in a fashion that would become uniform under German socialism. There are photos in this book!

There are many different media descriptions of Fascism and Nazism in critiques of Joseph Goebbels and Adolf Hitler. But what did “Der Fuhrer” and his “Minister of Propaganda” actually say when they spoke publicly and authored written statements? To find out, come inside their mouths; see what they said. This book examines the actual words of the men who came close to destroying the world. These revelations are indisputably authentic, raw, and fascinating. They are an un-retouched look at the inner recesses of the minds behind the Nazi Party. This is a useful companion volume or study guide to Hitler's Mein Kampf, whereby what had been a vague plan suddenly was reality, almost to the disbelief of its author and his assistants. If we are to discover the minds of Hitler and Goebbels, we must penetrate behind the thick curtains of superficial evidence which distort them and the unreliable media middlemen who have altered their speeches and writings. Here is a startling expose' of the origins of their views on their enemies, their friends, and their goals. This book reveals those origins, including shocking practices they borrowed from the USA.

“The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” originated in Russia in 1903, during the time of Tsar Nicholas II. In the Russian language it describes a plan for global domination via socialism. The word “socialist” appears multiple times within its pages. The publication was exposed and condemned by many people. It was shown to be plagiarized from several earlier sources with similar socialist ideas, some not antisemitic in nature. Yet it influenced every elder socialist with a diabolical program to conquer the world for their utopias (“Zion” is utopia). There are 24 "protocols" used to take over the world and those include: Economic Wars; Re-education; The Totalitarian State; Control of the Press; Distractions; Assault on Religion; Ruthless Suppression; Brainwashing; Abuse of Authority; Arrest of Opponents; Instilling Obedience; and World-Wide Wars. In 1917 socialists used those protocols to overthrow the Czar during World War I and impose the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The USSR quickly invaded and occupied more than 15 territories. Millions died. In 1920, the first non-Russian language edition of the Protocols was issued in Germany. 1920 is when Hitler joined a small socialist party and announced its new “25-point Program” with many similarities to the 24 protocols. Hitler began writing his infamous book Mein Kampf in 1923, with more parallels to the protocols. 1920 also witnessed the publication of the Protocols in Poland, France, England, and the USA. Those editions blamed the Socialist Revolution in Russia upon the authoritarian protocols. In 1939, Soviet socialism and German socialism partnered to launch World War II in their scheme to spread socialism worldwide for global domination. They specifically used “secret protocols” (The Molotov-Ribbentrop protocols were so secret that their existence was denied by Soviet socialists until 1989). It led to the socialist Wholecaust (of which the Holocaust was a part) and millions more died. Socialists in Germany and Russia used most of the two dozen protocols. Socialists in the USA used many of the schemes too. Perhaps the most popular protocols for socialists in all countries are: Re-education, Brainwashing, and Instilling Obedience. Those are imposed via government schools (socialist schools). Decades before Lenin, Stalin, and Hitler, the state governments in the USA took over education and taught schoolchildren to chant in unison and perform the Nazi salute each day within schools that imposed segregation by law and taught racism as official policy. The USA’s flag pledge was the origin of Hitler’s infamous stiff-armed salute (and other propagandistic behavior) that was borrowed decades later under German socialism and under other socialists worldwide. Anyone who rejected the ritual in the socialist schools was persecuted.
