Prof. Dr. -Ing. Wolfgang Spyra Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus, Germany The demilitarization and conversion of military properties wor- wide has been a topic of growing importance since the end of the Cold War. The slowing of the arms race brought on by weapons treaties and relaxed tensions between NATO and Warsaw Pact nations caused sto- piles of conventional weapons to become superfluous. The need to process and dispose of such weapons began more quickly in NATO countries. This demilitarization process began shortly after the reunification of Germany and was largely completed by the mid to late 1990’s. The remaining process, no small task in itself, of converting lands formerly used by the military into safe and environmentally acceptable landscapes may continue for decades to come. Due to a lack of resources and technology, the process of demilitarization in the former Warsaw Pact countries has launched more slowly. In 2002 both Georgia and Moldova finished projects which destroyed their stocks of liquid ballistic missile components. Both these projects were carried out through the cooperative support of trans-national organizations, private contractors, and research institutions. The Republic of Azerbaijan now finds itself at the beginning of its demilitarization process. Stored at the country’s military depots are over 2000 tons of missile fuels, oxidizer, and chemical additives. This hazardous waste is kept in tanks intended only for temporary transport and storage.

The case describes an experiment designed to measure the effectiveness of an online display advertising campaign. After running the campaign for their client, Rocket Fuel's analysts are tasked with proving that the campaign was effective and had a positive return on investment (ROI). The experiment involves randomly assigning Internet users to a test or a control group based on cookies that uniquely identify each user visiting a site where Rocket Fuel can place an ad. Users in the test group see an ad for a newly released handbag by TaskaBella, Rocket Fuel's client. Users in the control group are shown a public service announcement that is unrelated to the advertised product. Based on the unique IDs, Rocket Fuel is able to track which users eventually purchased a handbag from TaskaBella, allowing the analysts to discern the effectiveness of the campaign. A detailed data set (rocketfuel_data.csv) is provided with the case that allows students to conduct their own analysis.
The High Octane in Your DNA That Can Propel You to Greatness

ROCKET FUEL. There is an element of power attached to those words. So, yes, this book is about power-the power that can keep you excited about living your best life. And, if you're going to live well, prioritizing health and fitness is a must. In this book, Phillip Tomlinson explores this important step toward greatness, because greatness doesn't happen if we're unwilling to take charge of our health. Now, greatness could mean a lot of things for different people. It may mean being able to run a marathon within a certain time. It may mean making millions of dollars. It may mean inventing the next great thing. Whatever it is, if your health and fitness are taking a backseat, greatness will likely be far afield. Physical fitness has been shown to be an elixir that improves thinking skills, memory, and learning, as well as mood and creativity. Exercise has also been seen as the potion that can reduce the risk of such maladies as Alzheimer's and dementia. PHILLIP TOMLINSON is a fitness expert and experienced athlete, with a master's of science degree from Columbia University. A former track and field competitor and soccer player, he also holds a black belt in karate. Phillip has been a medical editor and award-winning reporter who has covered a range of topics, from science and technology to diet, exercise, and sports injuries. His experience in body movement resulted in the BodinSync fitness system, which utilizes compound exercises to compliment the body's natural inclinations.
