The power of modern information systems and information technology (lSIIT) offers new opportunities to rethink, at the broadest levels, existing business strategies, approaches and practices. Over the past decade, IT has opened up new business opportunities, led to the development of new strategic IS and challenged all managers and users of ISIIT to devise new ways to make better use of information. Yet this era which began with much confidence and optimism is now suffering under a legacy of systems that are increasingly failing to meet business needs, and lasting fixes are proving costly and difficult to implement. General management is experiencing a crisis of confidence in their IS functions and in the chiefinformation systems officers who lead them (Earl and Feeney, 1994:11). The concern for chief executive officers is that they are confronting a situation that is seemingly out of control. They are asking, 'What is the best way to rein in these problems and effectively assess IS performance? Further, how can we be certain that IS is adequately adding value to the organisational bottom line?' On the other hand, IS executives and professionals who are responsible for creating, managing and maintaining the organisation's systems are worried about the preparedness of general managers to cope with the growth in new technologies and systems. They see IT having a polarising effect on general managers; it either bedazzles or frightens them (Davenport, 1994: 119).

This book is based on the ICT integration in Education, and explores various concepts of Information and Communication Technology from Smart Classroom environment to Smart teaching learning Process. The book provides foundational knowledge needed to examine and understand the potential contributions of information and communication technology in education, including a conceptual framework for understanding the necessary components of ICT based education. This e-book is divided into three main sections. The first section is concerned with the integration of ICT to contribute substantial improvements in the educational system. This section mainly focused on the important potential tools to enable educational reform processes improving both access and quality of education. The increased diffusion of ICTs will offer potentially relevant ‘solutions’ to challenges not only at the core of the teaching and learning process itself, but also its application can accelerates and improves education system on a number of fronts i.e. use of ICT for various educational objectives, bridging the educational inequalities, with the potential of overcoming obstacles like geographical barriers, teaching learning difficulties, research and bring about transformational changes in education and in response to the information needs of the modern information times. The second section deals with concept of emergence of changing face of classroom and about the digital move that can turn a new face in the education system. Focus in mainly on smart learning environment which provides variety of smart solutions in educational challenges to enhance the quality of education and to improve the performances of both teachers and students. This section provides the acquaintance with how smart solutions transformed the conventional classrooms to an advanced student-centric online learning environment and how digital integration in education changing the approach and methodology that teachers use to teach and students learn in an innovative manner using technology.

Information Technology and the Teaching of History

International Perspectives

Information technology offers powerful tools to facilitate and to assist learning across the whole curriculum; the computer is certainly the most significant development in educational technology in the twentieth century. History may be thought of as a staid and perhaps tradition-bound subject, more resistant to change than some areas. Yet in history too, information technology is making an impact. This volume shows how information technology is currently contributing to, and bringing about changes in the way history is taught and learned. The international selection of the contributions shows that these phenomena are not restricted to just one country. The impact of information technology on history curricula is explored in depth in one section of the book, whilst other sections focus on classroom activities and issues, on the development of software for history, and on the relevance of current information technology developments. But the question which lies at the heart of it all remains that of how information technology can enhance the teacher's ability to offer situations in which learners can form and develop a real understanding of the nature of historical processes, and the ways in which they can be studied.of how information technology can enhance the teacher's ability to offer situations in which learners can form and develop a real understanding of the nature of historical processes, and the ways in which they can be studied.
