Angi Talismann thought her life was firmly on track. She was the Director of an Emergency Department of a large teaching hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia. But her destiny was elsewhere. Within days she was diagnosed with cancer and her grandmother was attacked by an international thief who was after a family heirloom, a medallion. Prior to her death, her grandmother had insisted that if anything ever happened to her, Angi must contact an old acquaintance in the United States regarding the medallion. This Boston contact was a descendant of a select group of 17th century families who immigrated from Britain to North America in the 1600s. What little Angi remembered was that members of this chosen group were sworn to protect something until the "Coming Times." Her grandmother's death was the chilling signal of the beginning of such times. Heading to the United States, Angi agonized over her role in revealing a family secret which had been held sacred for generations. In Boston, she meets three descendants of this secret society, of which she was also a member. From there she must travel on to Ireland and Scotland to search for answers to a 300 year old mystery. There she plunges into a Celtic world of mythology and ancient history for which she is ill prepared. Nothing in her professional life had prepared her for this. The unfolding journey creates friends of strangers as they try to stay ahead of a killer who knows more about the historical and material value of the medallion than they do and will stop at nothing to gain its power. As they travel, the past, present and future begin to merge. A Calendar of Earth-Focused Festivals That Align the Planet with the Galaxy
Author: Richard Leviton
Category: Body, Mind & Spirit
The spiritual world blesses the Earth at least 58 times a year-here's how you can join the party. Do you think folklore customs about solstices and equinoxes and other regular celebration days are quaint holdovers from the past? Not so. Do you sometimes wish there were a way to include the entire planet in a meditation practice? There is, and it's called the geomantic year. At least 58 times a year the spiritual world-angels, archangels, Ascended Masters, Star-Angels, even the Supreme Being-tunes in to the Earth, blesses, and even heals it in real-time day-long events. Our planet is constantly receiving input from the cosmos and heavenly realms. It's all part of a rhythmic maintenance calendar in which the Earth is enlivened, and all of humanity is invited to participate. This book shows you how. What kinds of events? On Epiphany, January 6, the Christ focuses on the planet to birth his Light. On Bifrost Paints the Planet, April 10, the Great Bear constellation envelopes the Earth in 14 rays of light. On Michaelmas, September 29, the Archangel Michael cleanses the Earth's sacred sites and all their "plumbing." Other events in the geomantic year involve stars, Nature Spirits, holy mountains, River-gods, Pleiadians, Hollow Earth dwellers, Grail Kings, volcano spirits, the Great Mother, and much more. The Geomantic Year documents 58 festival dates that focus on the Earth through its sacred sites, and it provides 58 simple meditations to help you participate. And it offers 12 informative essays linking Earth energies with hot topics such as the Illuminati and world control, parallel universes, the world's gold supply, the Ghost Dance, the Fall of Man, Earth and climate changes, and the apocalyptic year 2012. Why not get out your appointment book and pencil in a few dates: the Earth's expecting you!
Exploring the Magic and Mystery of the Middle Ages, J.R.R. Tolkien, and "The Lord of the Rings"
Author: Brian Bates
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Category: Literary Criticism
J.R.R. Tolkien claimed that he based the land of Middle Earth on a real place. The Real Middle Earth brings alive, for the first time, the very real civilization in which those who lived had a vision of life animated by beings beyond the material world. Magic was real to these people and they believed their universe was held together by an interlaced web of golden threads visible only to wizards. At its center was Middle Earth, a place peopled by humans, but imbued with spiritual power. It was a real realm that stretched from Old England to Scandinavia and across to western Europe, encompassing Celts, Anglo Saxons and Vikings. Looking first at the rich and varied tribes who made up the populace of this mystical land, Bates looks at how the people lived their daily lives in a world of magic and mystery. Using archaeological, historical, and psychological research, Brian Bates breathes life into this civilization of two thousand years ago in a book that every Tolkien fan will want.
The author compares Celtic mythology and religion with the beliefs of early Scandinavian society. Vikings and Norsemen who raided British shores ruled parts of Britain for centuries. The religion of the Scandinavians was the same as the religious beliefs and practices of their fellow Teutonic and Germanic tribes, and their chief deities and religious rituals were like those of Teutonic people anywhere.
