Moving location is a frequent human experience. To keep one’s faith in a new environment can be stressful. This book is about how Christians can keep their faith growing in any new situation.
Author: Jemimah Obaro
This book is written for every Christians who have moved or about to move locally or internationally from his or her local habitat and desires to grow and be nurtured in the word of God. The idea about the book started when I find myself outside my country, exposed to a new and different culture, away from the watching eyes of my church, pastor and Christian friends. Moving to a different country or location is a frequent human experience. There are countless reasons people change location. These could be due to economic reasons: as a result of jobs or careers or for educational purposes; or as a result of marriage just to mention a few. Whatever the reason, it is easy for people to get slip away and get lost in the crowd as one joins the music of the ‘new world’: the people and culture you come to live with. What I want to achieve here is to try to suggest ways to keep one’s faith in Christ and continue to grow despite being in a strange and unfamiliar environment. The book covers such topics as: Growing in our Christian faith, how do we grow? Growing in prayers, environment for growth, challenges to growth, growing in grace and God the Master Plante
'Words are a big deal. They are containers for power. I believe that our words can increase or decrease our level of joy. They can affect the answers to our prayers and have a positive or negative effect on our future.' Joyce Meyer shows us how the words we use shape our well-being and that choosing the right ones could change our lives for the better! In CHANGE YOUR WORDS, CHANGE YOUR LIFE Joyce provides a series of guidelines for making sure that our words are constructive, healthy, healing and used to good effect. Topics include: - The impact of words - How to tame your tongue - When to talk and when not to talk - Speaking faith and not fear - The corrosion of complaints - Do you really have to give your opinion? - The importance of keeping your word - The power of speaking God's word In a 'Dictionary of God's Word' at the end of the book, Joyce recommends dozens of scripture verses to read out loud as one way of using and claiming healing words.
Some years ago, I noticed that certain verses and even brief phrases seemed to stand out from Bible passages I read during my daily devotions. I found myself thinking about, meditating on, ruminating the words throughout the day. It amused me to picture myself chewing my cud. I shouldnt have been surprised. The Bible does say we are his people, the sheep of his pasture (Psalm 100:3 b, NIV), and sheep chew a cud. Other pictures came to mind: a baseball player as he chewed a wad of bubble gum; an old codger with a chaw of tobacco tucked into one cheek. The more delicate expression would be in reference to Mary, the mother of Jesus. Of her the Scriptures record: But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart (Luke 2:19, NIV). The meaning is the same. You thrill to Gods Word, you chew on Scripture day and night (Psalm 1:23, The Message). So was born my daily wad. I wrote the phrases on cards, thought about the words throughout the day, and shared them with others as opportunity presented itself. I was blessed, others were blessed. My prayer is that you will be blessed as you read, ruminate, and are refreshed by The Daily Wad.
