As a way of saying thank you to all those who have opened their hearts to her, author and school counselor Mrs. D. shares a journal created especially for them, presented in poetry and prose. A Familiar Voice Amidst the chaotic confusion, the office phone rings. Years have passed since the dismal dark voice on the other end So frantically fought back thoughts of taking her life. She speaks softly, slowly, tearfully, of today’s breakup. She silently suffers within her own world of sadness. With a tearful tone, she speaks of him And their connection, The indescribable innocence they shared together. Can she sustain the painful prison of being alone?

Sharing authentic personal stories and profound life lessons, Kristen Moeller explores our pervasive human tendency to wait for life and to look outside ourselves for answers. What are you waiting for? Do you find yourself waiting for the right moment? The ideal relationship? The perfect job? Are you waiting for your “real” life to begin? Do think that the gifts of life are right around the corner? That one day you will arrive and everything will be okay? Do you endlessly search, yet never seem to find? Through the sharing of authentic personal stories and profound life lessons, Kristen Moeller explores our pervasive human tendency to wait for life and to look outside ourselves for answers. Too often we are “waiting for Jack”—whatever or whoever “Jack” is. So we don’t try; we give up. We sell out and we forget who we are. We are afraid to succeed, afraid to fail, and afraid to say we are afraid. But as Wayne Gretzky said, “You’ll always miss one hundred percent of the shots you don’t take!” Waiting for Jack will inspire you to get on the path, move forward and take the shot. And. to remember that you don’t have to wait for Jack! “Refreshingly vulnerable, witty and wise. Waiting for Jack feels like a conversation with your best friend over coffee. With an honest approach and take action message, Kristen Moeller motivates readers to make it happen. This book is a special gift!” —Robyn Spizman, New York Times–bestselling author

Piers Plowman

A Modern Verse Translation

William Langland's 14th-century poem Piers Plowman is a disturbing and often humorous commentary on corruption and greed that remains meaningful today. The allegorical and satirical work revolves around the narrator's quest to live a good life, and takes the form of a series of dreams in which Piers, the honest plowman, appears in various guises. Characters such as Conscience, Fidelity and Charity tumble out of the text alongside Falsehood and Guile, and are instantly recognizable as our present-day politicians and celebrities, friends and neighbors. Along the way social issues are confronted, including governance, economic relations, criminal justice, public finance, marital relations and the limits of academic learning, as well as religious belief and the natural world. This book is a new verse translation of Piers from Middle English which preserves the energy, imagery and intent of the original, and retains its alliterative style. It derives from a 2012 arts festival presentation performed in the priory where Langland--a contemporary of Chaucer--was probably educated.

Grady’s family becomes her own, and the love and support from them strengthens her enough to face her fears and return to everything she had abandoned in Wyoming. Still not content to simply settle in Wyoming, Jewel and Grady embark on another adventure that changes the course of their lives. What is supposed to be a simple trip to help provide humanitarian aid, turns into a nightmare that takes them as far as Uganda where they will have to survive harsh conditions, militant Inherahamwe rebels, and a hostage situation that takes them beyond their limits. Grady, along with a team of ex-military men from various branches of the armed services, will have to call on their military background and experience to free them from the grips of one of the most feared terrorists in Africa.

Life and Practice in the Early Church

Life and Practice in the Early Church brings together a range of primary texts from the church's first five centuries to demonstrate how early Christians practiced their faith. Rather than focusing on theology, these original documents shed light on how early believers "did church," addressing such practical questions as, how did the church administer baptism? How were sermons delivered? How did the early church carry out its missions endeavors? Early Christian writings reveal a great deal about the tradition, as well as the wider culture in which it developed. Far from being monolithic, the documents which present the voices of the early church fathers in their own words demonstrate variation and diversity regarding how faith was worked out during the patristic period. The texts illuminate who was eligible for baptism, what was expected of worshippers, how the Eucharist was celebrated, and how church offices and their functions were organized. Contextual introductions explain practices and their development for those with little prior knowledge of Christian history or tradition. The pieces included here, all in accessible English translation, represent such sources as Justin Martyr, Tertullian, the Cappadocians, Cyril of Jerusalem, John Chrysostom, and Augustine.

Exploring the Word

This is a daily inspirational study book, based on a pattern to read your Bible through in one year. Rev. Rodney Whittle, along with his congregation, used this plan for many years to read their Bible through; it was such a blessing to him personally. He decided to follow that same format, as he wrote this book. There are two passages to read a day, a morning Old Testament passage and an evening New Testament passage. He would take an inspirational thought he received from that passage and write a study. As he wrote the monthly booklets, he didn't necessarily do them in sequential order and he only lacked eight days of his last month (January), before he passed away. His wife, Grace, worked and completed the eight days that remained, with other materials he had written in times past. Rodney E. Whittle was born in Cereal, Alberta, Canada, on October 29, 1928, and died on September 8, 2007. At his home, two missionaries from the Canadian Sunday School Mission arrived on bicycles to do missionary work. Through the ministry of these men, Rodney was wonderfully converted and called to preach the gospel. He spent the years 1944-1950 at Prairie Bible Institute, where the missionary boys were attending. He met his wife, Grace at Prairie and they married on August 28, 1950 and celebrated 57 happy years together. He had four daughters, ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren at the time of his passing. He pastored and helped many churches; Houston Texas, Dallas Texas, St. Louis Missouri, Minneapolis Minnesota, Nassau Bahamas, and Kingston Jamaica. He was pastoring in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, at the time of his death.
