Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry is the #1 bestseller for the introductory biochemistry course because it brings clarity and coherence to an often unwieldy discipline, offering a thoroughly updated survey of biochemistry's enduring principles, definitive discoveries, and groundbreaking new advances with each edition. This new Seventh Edition maintains the qualities that have distinguished the text since Albert Lehninger's original edition--clear writing, careful explanations of difficult concepts, helpful problem-solving support, and insightful communication of contemporary biochemistry's core ideas, new techniques, and pivotal discoveries. Again, David Nelson and Michael Cox introduce students to an extraordinary amount of exciting new findings without an overwhelming amount of extra discussion or detail. And with this edition, W.H. Freeman and Sapling Learning have teamed up to provide the book's richest, most completely integrated text/media learning experience yet, through an extraordinary new online resource: SaplingPlus.

Presenting the fundamentals of biochemistry through selected topics, the fifth edition of this text contains the latest developments in the field, such as new treatments in metabolic regulation, coverage of DNA-based information technologies and a new graphical style for enzyme reaction mechanisms.
Facts101 is your complete guide to Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry. In this book, you will learn topics such as Amino Acids, Peptides, and Proteins, The Three-Dimensional Structure of Proteins, Protein Function, and Enzymes plus much more. With key features such as key terms, people and places, Facts101 gives you all the information you need to prepare for your next exam. Our practice tests are specific to the textbook and we have designed tools to make the most of your limited study time.
The purpose of the present text is to distil the experience of a number of workers active in the field of biochemical education, so providing readable accounts which, it is hoped, will be of significant benefit to those who are new to the teaching profession in addition to those who may be stimulated to experiment with alternative strategies in their own teaching situation. From the various contributions considered in this book, each topic, in its widest sense, would warrant at least a volume on its own and indeed such texts are currently available. However, it was felt more appropriate to restrict the coverage to those aspects which are of particular use to the subject of biochemistry and, for which, work in this area has already achieved some measure of success. In effect what each of us is doing is supplying findings from a body of knowledge collectively called educational technology. Without entering the debate on the semantics of what educational technology is or is not, it doesn't take long to realise that, like the vast majority of subject areas, it has its own unique terminologies and vocabulary. Whilst it is inevitable that such terms will appear throughout the text, hopefully all will be explained on first use and so it is not envisaged that this will be too distractive to the reader.
Encompassing all aspects of the structures of peptides and proteins, this book adopts a uniquely problem-oriented approach to the topic. Starting with a look at the structures and properties of the twenty amino acids that occur in proteins, and moving on to the synthesis of polypeptides and the isolation of proteins, Peptides and Proteins then addresses the methods of analysis of protein characteristics, including the modern methods of sequence analysis by mass spectrometry. Further chapters examine the three-dimensional nature of protein structure, and introduce the student to the use of computer applications (molecular graphics, databases, bioinformatics) in protein chemistry. Original research data is used in many of the problems, and throughout sufficient background biology is included, thus putting the subject into context for chemists. Aimed at first and second-year chemistry students, this title will also be of interest to students of biochemistry. Ideal for the needs of undergraduate chemistry students, Tutorial Chemistry Texts is a major new series consisting of short, single topic or modular texts concentrating on the fundamental areas of chemistry taught in undergraduate science courses. Each book provides a concise account of the basic principles underlying a given subject, embodying an independent-learning philosophy and including worked examples.
